1. Small sided games- Current NCSL rules are silent on the minimum number of players required to play the match. This could lead to confusion among referees, coaches and parents. USYSA rules addendum for small sided games (SSG) state: "The minimum number of players required to begin a match for preteen players in SSG should be one (1) less than the number required on the field"

Therefore, the NCSL Executive Committee has adopted a rule clarifying the minimum number of players required to start a small-sided match as follows:

U9- U10   7 v 7, minimum 6
U11- U12  8 v 8, minimum 7
