The Passing of Jim McGoldrick - NCSL President and Vice President

It is with deep regret that we inform you of the passing of Jim McGoldrick of Walkersville, Maryland on June 29, 2012.


 Born on September 22, 1931 in Scranton, PA, Jim served in the US Navy during the Korean War. After moving to Maryland in the early 1960’s, Jim was a Montgomery County police officer until he retired in 1980. A Rockville resident during most of his time in Maryland, he was a Chapter Chairman for the Montgomery County Red Cross and an aquatic instructor.  Jim was elected as NCSL President and served again later as Vice President.  Jim turned his attention to soccer officiating and was a referee assessor the remainder of his life. He is survived by Kay, his wife of 56 years, of Walkersville; son James of Woodsboro; daughter-in-law Wendy of Woodsboro; sister-in-law Terry and her husband Jim of Silver Spring; and his niece Mary. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Red Cross or a charity of your choice . A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at a later time.
